Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how ScanPerks (“ScanPerks,” “we,” “us,” or “our“) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website, dashboard, and platform (collectively, the “Services“). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

By using our Services, you consent to the use of cookies as described in this Policy, except where we are required to obtain explicit consent (for example, for non-essential cookies under EU/UK law).

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, improve your experience, and provide information to site owners.

“Similar technologies” include pixels, tags, web beacons, software development kits (SDKs), local storage, and device identifiers. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as “cookies” throughout this Policy.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

We use the following categories of cookies on the Services.

a) Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Services to function. They cannot be switched off because the Services will not work properly without them.

Examples:

  • Authentication and session management (keeping you logged in).
  • Security and fraud prevention.
  • Load balancing and routing traffic.
  • Remembering items in your cart or campaign builder.
  • Storing your cookie consent preferences.

Legal basis: legitimate interest or contractual necessity. Consent is not required for strictly necessary cookies.

b) Performance and Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Services so we can improve them.

Examples:

  • Counting visits and traffic sources.
  • Identifying which pages are most and least popular.
  • Measuring how users navigate through the dashboard.
  • Diagnosing performance issues and errors.

We may use third-party analytics providers such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar tools. These providers may set their own cookies.

c) Functional Cookies

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization.

Examples:

  • Remembering your language, region, or display preferences.
  • Recalling your most-used dashboard views.
  • Pre-filling forms with previously entered information.
  • Embedded video and chat support widgets.

d) Marketing and Advertising Cookies

These cookies track your activity across websites to deliver relevant advertising and measure campaign effectiveness.

Examples:

  • Showing ScanPerks ads on social media or other websites.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns.
  • Limiting how many times you see an ad.
  • Building audience segments for re-engagement.

We may use partners such as Meta (Facebook) Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Google Ads, X (Twitter) Pixel, or similar.

e) Referral and Campaign Cookies

Because ScanPerks is a referral platform, we use cookies specifically to support referral tracking.

Examples:

  • Identifying which referral link or QR code brought a Participant to a Business Customer’s landing page.
  • Attributing conversions back to the referring Participant so they can earn rewards.
  • Preventing fraudulent or duplicate referral attribution.

These cookies are essential to the core referral functionality. Without them, rewards and attribution cannot work reliably.

3. First-Party vs. Third-Party Cookies

  • First-party cookies are set by ScanPerks directly.
  • Third-party cookies are set by our service providers, partners, or integrated platforms (analytics, advertising, support tools, payment processors).

We do not control third-party cookies. Please review the cookie policies of those providers for details.

4. How Long Cookies Last

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period (from a few minutes to several years) or until you delete them.

The duration of each cookie depends on its purpose. Referral attribution cookies, for example, may last 30 to 90 days to support reward tracking.

5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You have several ways to control cookies:

a) Cookie Consent Banner

The first time you visit the Services (and periodically afterward), you may see a cookie banner that lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or customize your preferences. You can change your choices at any time by clicking the “Cookie Settings” link in our website footer.

b) Browser Settings

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Steps vary by browser:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Services from working.

c) Opt-Out Tools

For advertising cookies, you may use industry opt-out tools:

For Google Analytics, you can install the opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

d) Mobile Devices

On iOS and Android, you can limit ad tracking through your device settings (e.g., “Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS, “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android).

6. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. There is currently no industry-standard way to respond to DNT signals, so we do not respond to them at this time. We honor cookie consent choices made through our cookie banner instead.

7. Cookies and Personal Data

Some cookies may collect information that qualifies as personal data under applicable laws. Our handling of that information is described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this Policy shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be communicated through the Services or by email where appropriate.
